Dear Elizabeth,
Thank you so much for guiding me in the right direction for everything college related-from trying to keep tuition low to helping me find my perfect school. Also, thank you for your wisdom on the pressures that come with college and the constant temptations to just abandon the school part of college and just go straight to the having fun part. You really showed me how balanced a life can be when you know how life is from both ends of the spectrum. By telling me that sometimes you have to go against your friends when it comes to making smart decisions with alcohol and partying, you were very right, not giving into college's temptations from the start has made the whole experience much more enjoyable. You have always been a role model to me and the fact that you are now on your own and have been through all these experiences I'm just about to go through, you know exactly what tips and talks I need. I really cannot thank you enough, Biz.
Love,
Molly
When Okonkwo first starts off in the book, "Things Fall Apart", his life is representing one where he is constantly trying to resist the temptations of being the leader his father was - which was a coward of a leader as well as a lazy leader. He really wanted to make a change for himself and with that came some tough battles but sticking up for yourself and wanting yourself to have the best possible representation of you as a person for yourself is the most important part of an identity of someone. Just like Okonkwo, I am learning to resist life's temptations and do things stricly just for me and things that would make me happy of the person I am. As my sister has told me throughout the years, she has said how easy it is to get caught up in all the college fun and lose sight on the importance of what college really is about and she admitted she gave into colleges temptations and told me that so I would not do the same. Making a proud reputation for myself is what not only boosts moral character, but also self-esteem.
